2 New Cute Bracelet Patterns

I have to confess that I love cutesy!  So here are two cutesy bracelets to play with.

The first pattern, Owls, would look really nice done in brighter colors, although I really like the softer blues for this piece.

This second bracelet, Frogs, was designed with the frogs to the left on purpose.  If you prefer a more central design, just add/subtract the plain blue accordingly.  These guys would be adorable in pinks as well, if you wanted "girlie" frogs.

Andi's work

Just wanted to share some work by Andi that really rocks.

This photo, taken by Andi, shows her beautifully worked version of the Three Frogs Bracelet pattern.

I always love it when readers share their work based on my patterns.  It's so much fun to see how talented everyone is!

I just wish I could read Hungarian - Andi has a really nice blog, Sipi, with gorgeous photography and bead work. I especially love her bracelet patterns.  She gave me props for the pattern in her latest post.

Three Frogs Bracelet

Three frogs being sociable on a muggy summer evening.

When I lived in South Carolina these little green guys would be so loud sometimes they would keep me up.

Right after I first moved to S.C., I had one of these fellows hop up onto my bare leg as I was walking up the stairs with a load of groceries! I didn't drop the groceries, but I definitely screamed a bit! (the dropping the groceries was a close thing though, let me tell you.)

Even with the froggie adventures, I still can't help but love these little guys!

patterns for kids

I recently came across a blog by Jonna, named Very Simple Patterns. (There's a link to her blog under the "beady Blogs" links, in the side bar.) Seeing her blog reminded me that even though I more often than not design patterns for more advanced beaders, that all beaders start out as beginers. And when it comes to that first pattern, less really is more.

I sometimes also get caught up in thinking "I need to make this blog impressive.... or I need to do a pattern that is really artsy, or technical." I forget to share some of my patterns I have designed for teaching my kids peyote stitch with pony beads.

One of my favs is a pattern I named a Frog for Becca. It was her first peyote piece and hangs on her door. Even though it was designed for pony beads, this would work up really cute in size 11 delicas - repeat a couple of times for a bracelet.

this has been the most popular of my pattern designs. I have to say I prefer the back ground worked in white, but was doing a test run of the pattern using these colours.

If you go to Felinda Bullock's album in the yahoo group 4theluvofbeads,

http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/4TheLuvOfBeads/photos/view/5145?b=2

you can see her version of this - it looks great - a lot better than my own. I still haven't finished this one. It needs the two metal bars to cap the ends and beads to finish out the length. I was so dissapointed with the way the colours turned out on this one I haven't felt real inclined to do anything else with it yet. I need to re-work it. I have seen this done with chalk white and holly green -and it works really well.
