These are the third batch of Bead Quilt patterns. I will post more when I get back from the beach towards the end of July. I plan on spending some time with my feet in the sand and water!

Bead Quilt 2011
Jeanette wrote:
"Yes, the theme for 2011 will be hand or hands, so those of you who are eager to
get started, may do so. Remember that the guidelines for 2011 will not be
posted on my web site until late September, though."
So it's time to get busy with our hands and do some beady hand work depicting hands.
I jumped the gun a little bit and did a few patterns already. Hopefully over the next few weeks I will be able to add several more.

Bead quilt patterns finally uploaded!

I have to tell everyone right now, that trying to get an image that looks anything like a turtle is hard! I got more amorphous junk every time I tried to do anything with detail. I finally sighed, and decided to "let go."
So most of the turtle images will be very simple. I usually can work in the small, 1.5 inch format, without too much agony. I have found that using the "colouring book method" works pretty well. But I will have to confess that this time I just couldn't get the image to cooperate.
I have decided to endeavor to persevere; I will not give up! So hopefully I will have more in the next week.
I finally added a bunch of turtle patterns for using in the bead quilt. The link for the entire album is below.

Two more squares - yay!

Here's two more Bead Quilt squares I did this morning.
The one on the right is a design I did for the Blue Ridge Beaders group. I am going to their meeting this Saturday to help spread info about the Beaders Against Breast Cancer, Pass it Forward Bead Quilt.
The blue waves are the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the star is the Big Star that sits up over Roanoke. And of course there is a heart.

Beaded aquarium project
Each year Jeanette's group "beady shenanigans" works on a group project to auction in the Beaders Against Breast Cancer auction held each year at Bead Fest.
This year, Jeanette Shanigan has chosen beaded aquariums for a group project.
Here's a sea anemone I bead crocheted for the beaded aquarium project sponsored by the group. The link for the group is here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beadyshenanigans/I also designed the background for aquariums 1 and 3. It was a challenge, because I don't normally design in herringbone, and I had to be sure to get the dimensions right, for fitting the tank. I also had to keep in mind that the colours needed to be kept to a minimum, and to factor in the cost of the colours chosen. Jeanette wrote the directions that appear with the graphs I designed.
Jeanette Shanigan who owns the group also sponsors beaded quilts for auction to raise money for breast cancer research. The bead quilts can be seen here.

http://shanigansbeadshenanigans.com/I designed several patterns and contributed a square to the rose quilt. I wished to do more, but have been a bit distracted by real life lately.
I really want to encourage everyone to try and participate in this cause. Even though it is now past deadline for this year, you can be sure there will be new plan for next year very soon. Be sure to check in on Jeanette's web sites to keep up, and in the loop.
